Solidarity with Migrants

Volunteers are very important parts of the BFC. We always welcome volunteers who are interested in human rights improvements for migrants and understand multi-culture. If you want to share your precious time, gifts, hobbies or something like that, just come to join us. We are waiting for you!

 

The areas you can take part in.

1.Human rights counseling

The counseling is taken here in a wide range including wage payment delay, industrial accident, labor problems, sojourn, immigration and human rights violation such as physical assault for migrant workers and also married migrants. The counseling volunteering is a kind of a special area which requires knowledge on labor laws and labor policies. If you are a lawyer or a certified labor attorney, you may do a legal advising, training or something else as a volunteer. If you are available in weekdays, you can accompany a migrant worker to a hospital or a governmental agency.

2. Korean Lessons and Experiencing Korean Culture.

 Korean Language is a very useful tool for migrant workers who have different cultures and languages from those of Korea, in order to be accustomed with Korean life. There are Korean lessons every Sunday. The diligence is more required than the professional knowledge in Teaching Korea.

3. Managing Multi-culture library

You are going to do a role as a facilitator at the library such as lending and returning and managing books, and preparing for multi-cultural programs in the Library to help migrants use the library more conveniently.

4. Computer Lesson and Maintenance

You can teach how to use computers to migrant workers and also married migrants. And also you can do a part in administering homepage or in maintaining computers.

5. Interpretation and translation

If you know vietnamese, chinese, indonesian or any language in one of Asian countries, you can help us in interpreting for counseling, making a newspaper or a pamphlet, or supporting each community.

6. Supporting communities of migrant workers and migrants communities

The communities are the places where migrants share their difficulties and enjoy their own cultures. You can be together with them in a picnic, a traditional holiday or a festival by preparing with them. You can learn their cultures and languages.

7. Photographing/Taking video

You can take a photo or video on a ceremony or a festival. You can prepare for the photo or video display.

8. Gaetongi(Dog poop)

There is a proverb ‘Never around when you need it’. Like this, you are going to do a bunch of chores such as enveloping newspapers, cleaning, preparing and so on, which need lots of hands of you.
