Training Multi-cultural counselor

Lessons for making Multi-cultural counseling instructor

<(Corporation) Solidarity with Migrants> started counseling service for married migrants from 2003. At first it was usually for migrants from Vietnam and China and about familial violence. In 2005, the , a subsidiary organization has been started in a need of program for mutual understanding for each culture as well as in order to prevent familial violence. After setting a day as a cultural day for each country, we let migrant women and their families present their own culture, which were praised by them and volunteers. And also with the two subsidiaries, and , we dispatched the counselors to local elementary schools and NGOs after training them. These activities in which migrant women become lecturers on their own cultures taught children to have multi-cultural human rights sensitivity as well as made people see them as cultural owners, not as victims. And also they counseled migrant wife and Korean husband who had been about to be divorced, which sometimes made a good result for them.
