1. Establishment

∙Oct. 26, 1996 「FWR(Association for Foreign Workers Human Rights In Busan)」 Started

∙Dec. 15, 2006 「FWR」registered as a corporation

∙Apr. 8, 2009     The name Changed into「SOMI(Solidarity with Migrants)」

2. The objectives

「SOMI」 is to protect human rights of migrants living in Busan and Gyeongnam province, to help them empower themselves, contribute to making Korea a multi-cultural society where people admit the difference in races, nationalities, skin colors and cultures, and respect the human rights of minors, and to take a role in improving human rights and democracy of the world.

3. Location : 4th floor,  Songkwang Bld. Dongsung Str. 119, Jin-gu, Busan  (Tel : 051- 802-3438~9)

5. Main Projects

○ Protecting human rights for migrant workers and married migrants living in Korea, especially in Busan

○ Program for adaptation and understanding of migrants to Korean life and culture.

○ Self-empowering program for migrants.

○ Projects for improving awareness on Human rights for Busan citizens and Multi-cultural education.

○ Project of urgent first aid, Human and Peace promotion in Asian Countries

○ Research, Policy making, Publishing on Migrants and their human rights
